William Morris Seaweed
William Morris Seaweed
The Seaweed design was attributed to John Henry Dearle for William Morris & Co. and was first made available in 1901. 'Seaweed' is unique to Morris & Co. as it is the first sole paper to feature a design of underwater plant life. The print looks beautiful set within a cupped oyster shell, making a truly striking trinket dish or ornament. This shell's design is completed with a delicate gold leaf edging.
My trinket dishes and ornaments are made using oyster shells either ethically sourced in Whitstable, Kent, or which have been re-purposed from local restaurants where the shells would have otherwise been discarded. I believe these shells are too beautiful to go to waste and so I carefully handpick each and every one and then craft them into beautiful works of art. Each shell is finished with a gold gilt edging and several coats of epoxy resin to create a durable and long-lasting shine. They are the perfect place to keep all your precious jewels, rings and trinkets.
