The Golden Lily oyster shell dish, based on the design by John Henry Dearle for Morris & Co., is by far my best seller. It features a variety of entwined flora and fauna in shades of green, blue, red, yellow and gold. The Golden Lily design was produced as early as 1870 and was printed by hand between 1880-1917, resulting in a timeless piece of art.

My trinket dishes and ornaments are made using oyster shells either ethically sourced in Whitstable, Kent, or which have been re-purposed from local restaurants where the shells would have otherwise been discarded. I believe these shells are too beautiful to go to waste and so I carefully handpick each and every one and then craft them into beautiful works of art. Each shell is finished with a gold gilt edging and several coats of epoxy resin to create a durable and long-lasting shine. They are the perfect place to keep all your precious jewels, rings and trinkets.

Materials

Each item consists of an oyster or scallop shell decorated with some or all of the following:

  • Acrylic paint
  • Liquid gold leaf
  • Tissue paper
  • Epoxy resin

Dimensions

As a guide, extra-large shells measure approximately 14cm x 8cm; large shells measure 12cm x 7cm and regular measure 10cm x 5.5cm.

These measurements are a guide only. As these shells have been created by nature and crafted by the sea, they will vary in shape, size and weight. The pattern and design on each product might slightly vary too.

Care Instructions

Please clean the shells gently with a damp cloth and do not use a detergent. Do not put the shells in the dishwasher, oven or microwave. All shells have been finished with a resin, which can withstand temperatures up to 48 degrees Celsius.
